Description

The nerve-shredding new thriller from the bestselling author of Reckless and The Blue Zone Henry Steadman is a successful surgeon with a thriving cosmetic practice in South Florida. He's divorced, but on good terms with his ex-wife and remains very active in his daughter's life. But you never know what's just around the corner. An out-of-town traffic stop goes violently wrong as the cop who was about to arrest Henry is shot repeatedly, and the killer escapes the scene. Henry is shell-shocked. To all the witness's eyes, he had the perfect motive to murder the cop. He seeks help from his only friend in the area, but what he finds there seals his fate. His friend has been butchered and Henry now knows someone is framing him for a double murder. A state-wide man-hunt is ordered. On the run, trying to avoid dead-ends, only one person believes Henry: sympathetic state-trooper Carrie, who has seen her fair share of tragedy. As Henry frantically figures out who would want to frame him, Carrie tries to keep the faith as more incriminating evidence against Henry surfaces. She has to lie to her own police force, praying that she has made the right choice.
The trail of set-ups leads them to another father on a twisted path to revenge -- and Henry must face up to just what it is he's been a part of!

The start of this book was great. It really makes you ask "can this really happen"? Once the main character found out that someone was causing his problems, it was interesting how he worked it out to find the person. I had a hard time putting this one down! Good story. My one complaint is that parts of the story weren't fleshed out, but it would not have been such a quick read if he had done that fleshing out. Highly recommended.

I agree about reading eBooks on your device. Although there are some books that I have read on my Samsung Galaxy and then decided I want them in physical form however this has not happened very often. Do you usually read just crime or other genres as well? I have read Broken Harbor by Tana French which was a gripping read but very slow to get into. Another recommendation is Justin Cronin's The Passage series. It is more dystopian than Andrew Gross though.

I read mostly mystery/crime books, but when something of a different genre sparks my interest, I will read it. There was a time when romance novels held my interest, but I'm pretty much not interested most of the time now. I am hooked on John Grisham books. The other series that have been great are Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. They can make me laugh outloud while I read them! I like Lee Childs'Jack Reacher books and can't imagine Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher! I have gotten hooked on ebooks over the last couple of years. I started with an Android Cruz but it was mostly frustrating. I got a Kindle Touch last winter and I love it. One reason I joined this website is to talk to other people about good books. I usually cruise through the library's digital list and take a variety to read. I'll look into the ones that you mention. Always in the market for a good book!
