A Tale of Two Cities

I found this book extremely hard going and I didn't even think much of the story. I eventually abanoned it as 'too hard' . I read for enjoyment not to have an english lesson and then try to work what was just written.

My absolute favorite Dickens novel! I don't know why they make everyone read Great Expectations - which is great - but you can't beat the drama of this story - set against the backdrop of the French Revolution. And the opening line -- and the closing line -- they don't write them like that anymore!

No surprise that JRR Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” is a close second. These novels have stood the test of time but can some of today’s literary endeavours last the distance? Personally I think marketing teams currently drive a lot of book sales, not the author. Read them, compare and decide for yourself.....
