Book Review

Bared to You by Sylvia Day – review

By Julie Burchill

Many feminists find the latest strand of erotica (horrible word: like putting a crocheted crinoline lady on a lavatory roll), in which women fetishise their own powerlessness, offensive. And it does seem a rather grotesque phenomenon to occur just... more.

Description

Our journey began in fire... Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness--beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily... Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds... and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart... "When it comes to brewing up scorchingly hot sexual chemistry, Day has few literary rivals." -- Booklist

Interview with Sylvia Day author of BARED TO YOU "If I were to recommend any book today to readers who enjoyed 50 Shades...this would be the first one I would offer....scorching love scenes."

I am reading the one that came out in October. It is good. It is not called Deeper into you it is called Reflected into you unless there is more than one title.

If these love scenes impress you, you haven't had enough sex. very unrealistic and dry. The insecurity of Gideon and the complete blondness off Eva was sickening...My favorite character was Carey.

holly.naim commented:

lol I loved the book so I disagree but I had to laugh when I read that your favorite character was Carey.

I loved this book. I want my very own Gideon Cross. I am not reading Reflected onto you. The second book in the series. The third one is coming out in December

"Bared to You" is an exact replica to "Fifty Shades"--except worse. The author must have decided to jump on the "Fifty Shades" bandwagon seeing as there was interest in this type of a series, but she should have mixed it up a little! Same issues between the couple, except the girl is stronger than in "Fifty", and the guy is much weaker than Christian Grey. I did "prebuy" the next book, cuz I need to find out what happens between them! I love modern day love stories, so I guess I will rate this book 3 stars. Hopefully the next book will be more original!

Gabriel's inferno is good also but it takes a long time to really get to the point page 316/500 something :/ but is really good. Insufferable Proximity is pretty good too :)

i loved this book cant wait to read the next. yes its a little like 50 shades but this is a little more intense, where 50 was the fun side of kinky.

I like Eva better than Anna, but i like Christain more than Gideon, in fact Gideon just the name i find it hard to picture him as handsome.

I enjoyed the book alot more tho, the wrirting is so much better.

Is it weird to say its the same as 50 shades but more grown up...i know strange. If i hadn't of already read 50 shades then i would of like this book more as it is better but its the same stuff, the stories are so close to being the same.

If you've read 50 shades this book is the same story (almost) but better writing, if you havent read 50 shades i recommend you dont read them and read this instead, i wish i did.

It was lovely..I read it in three days-loved it!
Not as repetitive as 50 shades of grey..! Gideon Cross is so easy to love and even when his dark side pops up-you feel for him. He reminds me Michael Henchard (Mayor of Casterbridge). I like Eva, she ... more
I read FSOG and loved that book but have to say that I feel the writing is better in this book. The story line is very similar. I like Eva in this book better than Anna but like Christian better than Gideon but I would not kick either one out of my... more
Flagged, tagged & bagged as the new Fifty Shades of Grey- Bared to You is supposed to be bigger, better & sexier. So… Fifty Shades without Twilight drama. Truth be told I still have yet to even make it to halfway through Fifty Shades... more
