iv just finished behind the scenes at the museum and thou its a good read i found it more confusing then it needed to have been ,with all the backward n forward thru the generations of the families. or am i just getting old

I love Kate Atkinson's books. Chalkie, don't let this one put you off. Her Jackson Brodie ex-policeman series is excellent. Atkinson does like to overlap his storyline and weave the characters in and out of the plot but she does it very effectively until you can't wait to see how the mystery will be solved.

I agree, I think Kate is one of the best writers around and I love the way she interweaves all the stories. All her characters are so well drawn and Behind the Scenes is one of the best books I have read for a long time. Roll on her next one!

Hi everyone
Hope you have been good in these past few months and reading some great books.
I myself have been on a nice long summer holiday to my home country of Lebanon, and I've just returned to Australia again.
And of course to The Reading Room!. :)
I enjoy novels and reading and interacting with people so I'm looking forward to being active again in here.

The Fry Chronicles
I bought this book as one to 'dipped into', savoured a chapter or two at a time, like an expensive box of chocolates. I devoured it in two sittings (and only that many as I had to feed the family!). Given that my life couldn't really be more different to Mr Fry's, it's an odd analogy to make, but it was like slipping on a favourite cardigan, warm, embracing, comforting and familiar.
