You guys and gals need to read this book called Ashes of Roses by: Mary Jane Auch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the most amazing book I have ever read in my life!!!!!!!!!!

comment...I read it a number of years ago and much enjoyed it. My nephew took an aprentice ship as a stone mason and was required to read it as part of his training .to me this speaks to the quality of follett's research.In terms of the masons trade and development of tecniques and design the book appears to be quite accurate. Not only a great story but a very informative work.. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the social history of that period.

This classic book is a Christmas must-read! All the good, bad, generous and greedy characters are there, wrapped in Dickensian dystopia but real and still recognisable today. It's a book filled with tales of family love and unselfishness, the fight against poverty, the comfortably wealthy and the callous rich, meanness of spirit (with visits from ghosts) then learning to give and ultimately receive redemption. In short, learning about life and caring and sharing at Christmastime.
Just joined, what a great way to see what everyone's reading and keep track of your books :) none of my family or friends are big readers, great to be able to talk to people that are

Just finished The Other Queen. Waiting to get my hands on The Lady of the Rivers. I read all the other books in chronolgical order. Kept getting confused when I read them as I got them. Anyone else have that problem?
