The movie is a very literal translation of the book - very well done and very graphic. I love these books, and the first two movies are honest well done adaptations of the books.

Just be careful about the age of those watching the movie. Many of the scenes are disturbingly graphic and letter true to the book. The movie is not rated, as it was not made in the US - but if it was it would be NC17.

I read the other day that the Hollywood machine is now going to film these books ... so watch out for something which doesn't relate to the original book whatsoever :(

So Pezter are you saying that there's now going to be 2 versions of the films based on the series, this low budget one that am referring to, and now a new Hollywood filmed version?

Yeah the swedish version is rated 18 here in the UK. I believe the swedish versions of TGWTDT and TGWPWF have stayed very loyal to the books, although I haven't seen TGWTDT yet and TGWPWF isn't released here until next week. I won't bother with the Hollywood glitz 'n' glamour version.

I've seen the first movie and it was excellent. The actors that played the lead parts were perfectly suited to the roles and I found that the movie stayed very true to the book. It's a bit depressing to me that here in North America most people will see the 'Hollywood version' of the film, sans subtitles. I can't think of any popular hollywood actor that could pull the roles off as genuinely as the originals.. hopefully I'm proven wrong ;-)

They'll probably cast Angelina Joellie as the main character.

Who else would they place as the female hero of the film and she played pretty far out roles in the past.

Nothing against Angelina... but I couldn't see anyone other than Noomi Rapace playing Lisbeth, not well anyway.

They might always just get some new comer to play Lisbeth, or maybe even actress Uma Therman (I hope that was spelt right)...... Speaking of who, has anyone seen her films "Kill Bill"?.

I don't really like her though as an actress.

I would advise you move straight on to book 2, there are a lot of different characters and place name to remember and because they're Swedish it can get confusing if you've had a gap and time to forget whose who!

I'm now totally confused about this book - most people on here seem to be fans, but my sister's just finished reading it and said she found it really slow and a bit dull! :S

comment..Our bookgroup read the first of these books at Christmas, all but one of the group loved them and we have now just chosen the last one in the series for this months read. Some of us have seen the film too and its great too,

if it was me i would move on to the 2nd one, i think if i read a book in between a series i forget a little of the story of the first one, if you know what i mean, i havent read this book but have heard good things about it, i have it on my wish list so maybe one day i will get around to reading it.

Hi, I've read the 3 and read them one after the other and it was amazing. I didn't want to lose any of the thread.

i have only just finished reading book 1 and know i must find the other 2 it was hard going but when lisbeth came in i could not put book down what a bad girl she was but you can understand why

I am almost finshed the second one now. I have really enjoyed the first wo books. I will read the third book soon but have been told it's good but not as good as the first two. Comments?

Hi, I finished the first one a month or so ago, I found the beginning a little hard going and the dialogue really stilted, but this may be due to the translation into English, a very enjoyable read though, I have the second book, but feel like a break from the characters for a while before starting. I couldn't help feeling a little sad for Steig, not knowing he's become so successful.

I'm with you. the second book was even better. The first third of each book gives you lots to think about, and is very factual. then the last two thirds come at you, and catches you by surprise. with its shocks and surprises. Cant wait for the final book in the trilogy.

This is one I have picked up and put down when in bookshops. I don't know what it is but I just don't fancy it. Please let me know how you get on with it noleary.

Not reading it myelf but know omeone who is, she's finding it difficult to get into aswell but I think she's gonna stick at it....we'll see how it goes =)

They really are worth the perseverence, and it's only the first book that has the sluggish start. All 3 books are amazing. Enjoy :o)

Keep going, the 3 books are brilliant, it is a pity that we will not have anymore books from the author.

I'm just about to start reading it. It came in the post today. I hope I can stick with it although I am a bit discouraged after reading what a slow start it has. Hopefully I'll be able to persevere with it.

I have also just started this book ... I have found the start a bit slow, but it's picking up now (I'm up to page 83 if that helps!)
