Biography
Catherine Broughton was born in South Africa, though she is English. Her father was a doctor of tropical disease and his work took the family all over the world for many exciting years. A family of nine, they lived in far-flung corners of Africa, the South Pacific, Spain, Belize, Switzerland and more. This life of travel is reflected in all of Catherine Broughton's books, which are set in expatriate situations. At eighteen Catherine returned to the UK and attended London University where she did a BA (Hons) in French. In later years she did a further BA (Hons) with the OU in History of Art.
Catherine Broughton is also an artist; her water-colour sketches and paintings are sold almost uniquely for Amnesty International, a charity she supports keenly. She has been married for thirty-five years and has three children and two grandchildren. She still travels widely and spends most of the year in France, Belize or the UK.
