The third instalment in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series and this book is chock full of action, danger and excitement.
This book introduces Richard to the series, and ups the presence of the werewolves. He’s not my favourite character (yup, I’m team JC), but he’s not so bad in the early days – a bit too cookie cutter for my taste for a romantic interest, but hey. I like my bad boys
This up the ante as far as the danger factor goes, with some serious fire-power in the enemy camp. And also some good drama between Anita and Jean-Claude. I love that as you’re reading you wonder how on earth Anita is going to get herself out of this one alive.
What LKH does very well is create a really great balance between putting our heroine in dangerous predicaments and getting her out of them in a way that is plausible, and keeping to Anita’s base personality.
