I read the American version Outlander. And then I read every book she wrote as soon as it was out. Her history is accurate---she has rewritten small bits here and there. Her imaginationis amazing. Great Storyteller.

Cross Stitch is the English name of the book but called Outlander in America. It is about a 2nd world war nurse called Claire who after the war goes to Scotland with her husband Frank to study his ancestors. She is thrust back in time to the 1740's and meets Jamie Fraser. Diana Gabaldon has been able to portray the brutality of the era exceedingly well and I love the developing romance between Claire and Jamie.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have continued on to the sequel. There are 7 books in all.
