Normally with the Stackhouse books, it’s the relationship between Sookie and Eric that absolutely absorbs me – I love Eric. What I felt this book was about was creating obstacles in this relationship and perhaps opening up the way for Bill once again. That’s just a bit of guess work on my part, however. The story chugged along at a good pace and was pretty interesting, but there wasn’t an overall compelling story arc that had me dying for more by the time I was finished. I felt more frustrated than hungry for the next book. It was good, but it was definitely not my favourite Stackhouse book.

When I read this I felt like it was a bit of a "filler". I adore the stackhouse books but for me this was the worst one. The relationship between sookie and Eric was just brushed to one side. The relationship with sookie and her fairy cousins and what was happening within the family was not explained. There was a hint of trouble but thats as far as the story went. Charlaine Harris has made it clear that she does not want to continue with Sookie any more and plans to end the series soon. I felt that she is now rushing to finish it with this book.

I agree with all your comments, it really didn't feel like it moved the series ahead in any way. I had heard she was going to stop with book 13, so she might be building towards the final choice for Sookie with her men. But really, for all that Sookie and Eric have gone through it would have been nice to develop that further rather than create more hoops for them to jump through. Very much filler material - it's like a limbo while we move everyone around for the finale.

I think this ne was a little too predictable- I expect the next one to be a bit more True Bloodish

Not as good as the rest, or did I just not like the cover? Maybe it's leading up to a better book, as there were loose strings still at the end that need to be tied up. Also this Sookie book didn't have me daydreaming about hunky vampires and other supes...
