For years, Charlaine Harris has delighted fans with her mystery series featuring small-town waitress-turned-paranormal sleuth Sookie Stackhouse. I persnally would not say one is better than the other as I have read both series and love them both, but if you like Twilight books you will like these as well. I am reading series for the second time.

I also love the HBO series based on these books, TrueBlood.

I noticed a lot of the similarities too...I'm only on the first book and I am going to try to get through the whole series but Im not quite sure if I will...I loved Twilight more myself but so far I can see why these are so popular too.

I think that the TV series captured the essence of the book, even though there were definitely some differences. Unfortunately, Bill was no more appealing to me in the book than he is on the TV show and as the main love interest, that’s pretty disappointing. I wasn’t feeling the chemistry / love / lust etc between Sookie and Bill because I just couldn’t bring myself to either like Bill or find him sexy. I think it was a good solid read, but I’m not going to rush out and buy the next book in the series

Not a book to read if you're after anything serious, but then why would you be looking at Vampire books if you were after a serious read? A light hearted enough book to kill a few hours.

This book was awful! A total waste of paper! Flat characters, and sex scenes with too much information in a vomit sort of way. I mean really, did I have to read about a vergins first time and what the blood of a vampire does to help heal that?! gross. Seriously don't waste your time.

The writing is childish, the Twilight series is better. Atleast we knwo why Edward and Bella are in love. But the true blood serioes has some fun sex scenes!!!!!

Both very good in different ways. Twilight is more serious depicting the trials of growing up and all the woes that go with it, complicated, of course, as some of them happen to be vampires. True blood can be very gory and yet funny at the same time......read both and you;ll love both.

loved this series If you like twilight this is similar but without the teenage hormones running ramapart and while it is a love story in a way that is not the whole focus of the story like it is in twilight

The sex in the book is much worse than the Twilight books..It seems like every other page Sookie and Bill were getting it on. It was on her mind most of the time...In Twilight, yes, They thought about it and she wanted to have sex..but they didnt have sex until Breaking Dawn..and I believe they didnt have sex until after they were married{if before then not much before they got married}
