I really struggled with this book. It did not seem to go anywhere and I found it really hard to finish, but eventually I did. Maybe I missed the point of it all.

This is a wonderful book for young adults as well as adults interested in historic novels. The main character is a young girl separated from her family as she takes her first job as a maid. Seen from the perspective of an outsider you get snapshots of the homelife of Vermeer. It is a coming of age novel.
