Search

The Search function allows you to find books by searching for the title, author name or subject, as well as find Members by searching for their username.

You can add any book returned in a search to your bookshelf by clicking the Add to My Bookshelf icon on the left hand column of search results. All the ways you manage your bookshelf can be done on the search results page, including adding your book to particular list, commenting on or rating the book. Books that are already on your bookshelf will have the Remove Book () button instead.

Title Search

Knowing the approximate title of a book is helpful when conducting a Title Search. If you aren't able to find a book when searching by it's full title, try searching for only part of the title. Many books have the same title, so it is helpful if you know all or part of the author's name.

When you search for a title, results are returned in three tabs: Titles, Reviews and Reading Groups. The title tab returns all books with the words you have typed in the Title. Similarly you can see all the reviews written for books with these words in the title. The Reading Group tab will identify any reading groups who are currently reading, have previously read or are intending to read next a book with these words in the title./p>

Author Search

When you want to conduct an author search click on the drop down menu beside the search box, that says "Search by Title" by default, and select author. Then type the name of the author you wish to find. Note that the misspelling of an author's name will result in incorrect search results. For example, a search for the poet Emily Dickinson will result in no results if you type Dickenson rather than Dickinson. If you are unsure of the spelling of an author's name, you can type in part of their name, or do a title search for one of their books.

When you search for an author, results are returned in two tabs: Titles and Reading Groups. The Author tab will include all works by authors that match the name you searched for. The Reading Group tab will identify any reading groups who are currently reading, have previously read or are intending to read next a book by an author that matches the name you searched for.

How do I find a Member of The Reading Room?

You can find members of The Reading Room by searching for all or part of their username. Click on the drop down menu beside the search box at the top right of the page and type in the name of the user you are looking for. The search results will list all the users who have all or part of that name as part of their username.
