Here Burns my Candle is written by Liz Curtis Higgs. A beautifully written historical fiction novel that takes place in Scotland. It is 1745 during the time of the Uprising when Bonny Prince Charles tries to take the English throne from King George II and restore the Stuarts to the throne.
