I, Michael Bennett

I,  Michael Bennett is the latest of the Michael Bennett novels by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge. Having read the Alex Cross series in the way past, this is my first meeting of the New York detective, his ten adopted children, his nanny Mary Catherine and his grandad Seamus.  Bennett is a pretty likeable fellow although he is way too much of a workaholic - but that's his engaging flaw of character.

In this book, Bennett takes on a major crime lord who when arrested is out for revenge. From inside prison he wreaks havoc and orders hits on the outside. His main target Bennett and his family. 

This is a book where you suspend belief, go with the over the top plots and enjoy the action. It's the classic book you buy at the airport, read it at the beach or next to a fire.  It's simply an easy read. And that's not putting it down.  Just like our diet, we need to have different genres of books and styles of writing. I'm happy to have put James Patterson back  in my reading diet but I'm not addicted.

And that brings me to the controversial ending of this book....or no ending; rather a cliffhanger. I have read many reviews where fans of Patterson are furious at him and feel ripped off.  It didn't bother me.  Whether I'll buy the next in the series to see what happens - well, who knows - maybe if I see it at the airport! 

great book but left unfinished as to what happens to michael and his family at the end .....part 2 maybe!
