Biography

Kathryn Stockett was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. After graduating from the University of Alabama, she moved to New York City, where she worked in magazine publishing and marketing for nine years. She currently lives in Atlanta with her husband and daughter. This is her first novel.

This is a great book and wonderful movie. I live in the south so I have actually witnesses how white men and women treat those of color. People who are not from here can never really understand how bad things down here can get, and yes some of us white folks who didn't have money were treated a lot like those of color we are in a class system down here and poor white folk are just one step above those of color. Mississippi is still one of our worst states for this class system. I all so would like to say that we do speak like depicted in the book and movie. I think for a first novel it's great, hope to see more books out of you.
