Description

For Cassia, nothing is left to chance--not what she will eat, the job she will have, or the man she will marry. In Matched, the Society Officials have determined optimal outcomes for all aspects of daily life, thereby removing the "burden" of choice.

When Cassia's best friend is identified as her ideal marriage Match it confirms her belief that Society knows best, until she plugs in her Match microchip and a different boy’s face flashes on the screen. This improbable mistake sets Cassia on a dangerous path to the unthinkable--rebelling against the predetermined life Society has in store for her.

Make a post...Cover: 5/5

Book Review: 3/5

Well, I will start off with the positive....

I adore Cassia, Xander and Ky. They are all amazing characters. The love they all have for each other. The friendship between Cassia and Xander are amazing. So for me, who ever she ends up with, would be perfectly fine with me.

The negative?....

The story for me was just too drawn out and went on for too long. I understand the book was just getting everyone used to the characters, the history of the Provinces and how they ended up where they were. But it was just a bore for me. I had to skip about 60 pages or so. And from time to time, I would read a sentence or two of a paragraph because it was just way to much..and too repetitive.

Will I go on to the next book?

I probably will...In time. But right now, I just need to get over this one. If I try to go on to the next one too quickly, I will just get upset. lol...but I wouldn't be surprised if this series wasn't turned into a movie. It is good enough for one. Even though I personally didn't find it amazing, I can see a movie coming out of it and the characters being loved even by people who didn't read the books. Hopefully they will do these books justice unlike some books-to-movies that weren't done justice. But I guess we will see. :-)

Dystopia is all the rage and I am a fan. This book is great! It has a classic feel. Very Fahrenheit 451 feel to it! It is refreshing that very isn't murdering each other. Don't get me wrong I LOVE The Hunger Games. Condie's world building is fascinating. The main character has a quite courage the really drew me in. The love story isn't to over the top. This book really had me hooked. This book is worth a read.

I liked the way the author developed the world that the characters were in, it was certainly a very interesting dystopian society. With the Society the way it was, it was a reflection on how the characters came across – kinda bland with a lack of personality or individual thought.

Of course, the characters got a little more life to them as the story developed and the heroine started to question Society and her place in it.

I wasn’t super into the love triangle, but once again, as the characters gain more depth through the series it does have good potential and could gather more momentum and interest for me.

So I think this book really built the building blocks for where the rest of the series is going very well, and I’m really interested in seeing where this all leads in the next book.
