Hey guys, need some help! For standard english (my HSC year) my topic is 'into the world'. Now I know that I am doing Billy Elliot the film as a prescribed text and I need two other related texts (they can't be the same and can't be a film). So I was wondering if you knew of any books that would fit into the topic of 'into the world'

comment...hello Tiger - when I did my HSC (back in 1976 mind you) one of the set texts was Hickleberry Finn by Mark Twain - it has heaps of the coming out in the world stuff

What would the world look like after nuclear war has ravaged everything that was once beautiful? Can beauty be found again amongst the ashes that have settled, years later and made everything gray? PURE is a dystopian thriller in a world that struggles to exist after it been blasted by nuclear bombs. Those that have survived are mutated, evil and unrelenting. The main heroine, Pressia, is a young girl who is strong and holds a special bond with her uncle. Partridge is a Pure who lives in a dome where everything is "perfect". However he is not your typical Pure because he escapes the dome to find out the truth of what really happened and track down his mother whom he suspects is still alive... in some form or another.

Pure is full of action, unique characters and scary (sometimes gruesome) scenes that will leave you wanting to be part of the world and journey that Partridge and Pressia must embark on together, to save those they love.
