Description

Grace is fascinated by the wolves in the woods behind her house; one yellow-eyed wolf in particular. Every winter, she watches him but every summer, he disappears. Sam leads two lives. In winter, he stays in the frozen woods, with the protection of the pack. In summer, he has a few precious months to be human ...until the cold makes him shift back again. When Grace and Sam finally meet they realize they can't bear to be apart. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human - or risk losing himself, and Grace, for ever.

Can anyone tell me what exactly the WriteOnCon competition is looking for? Are they asking for a 500-word piece of fiction, a 500 word excerpt from a novel you've started, or a 500-word synopsis (or "pitch") of a novel you are working on?

Thanks,

-Ryan

REVIEW: - " Shiver " by Maggie Steifvator.

===================================

I have just finished reading book 1 of author Maggie Steifvator's werewolf trilogy, which I did find to be very young-adult like but entertaining in ways.

-

"Shiver" centers around a girl named Grance, who in her early childhood years was attacked & bitten by wolves, only to be saved by one of them which leaves her emotionally attached & fascinated by him.

Now a young women, Grace has grown even more fonder of her ... more

Great review, Tayubi. Always check the spelling of the author's name so they don't get miffed.

" Shiver " by Maggie Stiefvater

=========================

Am now starting off on my next read as I've decided to finally take on Maggie Stiefvater's 3 part Wolf novel series..... Starting with " Shiver ".

I've bought the book series from a while ago and have only just begun reading and can't wait to go through them.

anonymous13 commented:

i started 2 read it but got bit boring. is it worth picking up again??

Tayubi commented:

I agree it's a bit boring in the sence that in some parts it drags, but I'm enjoying it and for some reason can't put it down.

Love and drama play a big part in it, which I think is probably why some readers are half-half about it.

It's very different than any other fantasy young adult read.

If any fans of "Shiver", "Linger" or "Forever" by Maggie Stiefvater live in Queensland, she will be giving a talk at the Brisbane Writers Festival and signing autographs. Perhaps a good way to get first-hand information about her next book!

I have just started to read Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. I heard her on an online interview about a week ago and she was very inspiring and easy to listen to. Maggie read a chapter from Shiver in the interview as well. I found when I hear authors read their own words it makes you see the book in a whole new light. Has anyone else had that experience?

this book is my favorite in the trio BY FAR! It is so raw and new and the story has yet to be complicated with all the cures and the problems. It's Sam and Grace finding their fate, before they find themselves.

Ok, here's another book that I've fallen in love with and I'm going to buy the other two books in the series to read while I'm away on holiday. This is one of the very few books that has brought me to tears and it's a brilliant story about love and complications.

At a young age, Grace was attacked by wolves and instead of dying, she was saved by one wolf with very beautiful eyes that stuck with her for 6 years. That very wolf would stay at the edge of the forest and look for her every winter and... more

A Question On Auther Maggie Stiefvater:

==================================

I would like help in finding out more on the release of Maggie Stiefvater's upcoming novel titled "Forever".

-

The book is the 3rd and final to her Shape-shitting Wolves series of "Shiver" & "Linger".

-

I have asked at stores and try searching online for more info but so far I haven't been able to find a release date for Australia, or any online stores which I can try and order the book from.

I will be traveling overseas... more

Speaking of Book release dates, are titles usually released in most countries around the same time (as we see with big film releases) or at different times for each?.

Lady Luck commented:

Unfortunately release dates for new books do vary around the world. Usually publishers advise a date for UK and US then the rest of the world comes later. Nowadays the gap isn't too bad. For Jasper Fforde's "One Of Our Thursdays Is Missing" I only had to wait an extra two weeks. Of course, if a book is huge, it will have a simultaneous release due to high demand.

At first I wasn't too sure about it but went ahead and bought it because of the cover. Once I started reading it I was hooked. I liked the fact we got to go inside not only Grace's head but Sam's as well. Great book and loved the ending.

I loved reading 'Shiver' so much. Maggie Stiefvater has infused sadness, love and hope into this story of the relationship between two teenagers; a werewolf and a girl. I liked how the point of view alternated from Grace to Sam. This gave us passage into their minds so that we could truly understand how they felt about each other. 'Shiver' is a breath of fresh air in our teenage vampire- heavy atmosphere.
