Description

Mikael Blomkvist, crusading journalist and publisher of the magazine "Millennium, " has decided to run a story that will expose an extensive sex trafficking operation between Eastern Europe and Sweden, implicating well-known and highly placed members of Swedish society, business, and government.
But he has no idea just how explosive the story will be until, on the eve of publication, the two investigating reporters are murdered. And even more shocking for Blomkvist: the fingerprints found on the murder weapon belong to Lisbeth Salander--the troubled, wise-beyond-her-years genius hacker who came to his aid in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, " and who now becomes the focus and fierce heart of "The Girl Who Played with Fire."
As Blomkvist, alone in his belief in Salander's innocence, plunges into an investigation of the slayings, Salander herself is drawn into a murderous hunt in which she is the prey, and which compels her to revisit her dark past in an effort to settle with it once and for all.

I have to say I found this one more difficult to follow because there are so many different characters. At the same time because there are several investigations going on simultaneously there's a lot of repeated information that really frustrated me. I really feel that if the author had taken the time to 'trim the fat' so to speak, the book would have been half as long and twice as good. My vote is, it was OKAY.

There are so many great Scandinavian crime writers: I personally really like Jo Nesbo, Henning Mankell, Karin Fossum, Camilla Lackberg and Asa Larson and I am sure there are lots of others that are around which I have not discovered yet. The most recently I read and reviewed Phantom, could have not put that one down.

There's a lot of great work out there to be experienced. These days I would rather pick up a book than go to a movie or turn on the t.v. I'll keep an eye out for these other writers.

I am near the end of this book and have to say that it was much easier to get to grips with than the first (maybe that's because I am familiar with the main characters), can't wait to get to the end.

Just finished this book and I found it gained my interest much faster than the first one. Am about to start the third one now so hopefully it will be just as good.

Definitely a page turner but somewhat difficult to follow all the characters - there are so many of them, and mostly only surnames are used, so it is difficult to make male/female associations. More than anything it made me dream of Sweden...

OMG I love this series. This book is a little slower to start than the first one but well worth sticking with it. I am looking forward to reading number III. Pity there won't be any more of these great books.

Great book. Loved it from start to finish. As with the first book, this starts gently and builds up the tension superbly. Cant wait for the third book to come out in paperback!

Great-great story teller shame Stieg Larssen died so young, went into Waterstones to see when the third book will be in paper back and was told the end of April. I will lookforward to making it my target book for the first quarter of 2010. However if someone has it in hard back and wouldn't mind sharing it with me thanks.
