I think this is a brilliant book!

This is a magical love story woven into a deadly game set up by two cold hearted magicians, against the backdrop of a truly wonderful circus.

However, once set up the game follows its own path with unexpected results.

The two players, Celia & Marco both manage to keep true to themselves & refuse to be manipulated. They take the game & turn it into an intricate dance following their interpretation of the rules. Their mentors seriously underestimate their strength of character & integrity.

When they fall in love Celia & Marco they really make MAGIC! They also take the responsibility of the circus, its acts & the reveurs very seriously.

Their plan to protect everyone as well as themselves ends perfectly.

They are able to end the game & still conjure a place for themselves that is truly out of this world!

Wonderfully, intricate descriptions & magical characters give this tale a dream-like quality interlaced with the anticipation & enjoyment of a rare & superb circus experience.

A friend at work recommended this book to me. I enjoyed it and I passed it along to my grown daughter to read. She is an artist and I am waiting for her to do her own sketch of how the circus might look (I wouldn't show the book leaf so she has to come up with her own design). Can't wait to see how she interprets it.

I like all sorts if im perfectly honest. my firend said earlier this month that i should try "The Hobbit" but I have to admit I found it rather dull. I'm open to all suggestions, as I'm trying to broaden my knowlegde of books, (too many years being told im not allowed to read because it makes me look geeky, but thats a whole other story lol) and since about March time Ive read loads, "Me before You", "The Hunger Games", The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, "The Green Mile" and "The Lucky One" to name a few. I have also read Reggie Kray's autobiography too, which I was really suprised by. I guess my point is I like all sorts XD. xoxox

The Night Circus would be different from all the ones that you mentioned but if you would like to try something different this would be a great way to do it. If you like it you might also try The Time Travellers Wife (another one that I really loved) Looking at the list that you mentioned above I wonder if you tried Water for Elephants? My recent favourite book has been Gone Girl, a psychological thriller that I simply could not put down, fantastic! It looks like you also read a fair amount of YA, there are some really good ones in this genre. I am reading right now The Wool (very good!) I also noticed that you mentioned the last Jojo Moyes "Me before You" She has a new one coming in September, did you register for the advanced reading copy for this one?

This was magical. It reminded me of Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree series that I read as a child, only this one is for adults! I just loved the concept of Le Cirque de Reves. The descriptions were so vivid, I could picture everything. I was not surprised when I read that Erin Morgenstern is also an artist. The book design is also exquisite. My hardcover copy has a red cover, inscribed with silver symbols, black dust jacket with white and silver silhouette-style illustrations, black tipped pages and a red ribbon for a bookmark. In today's world of eBooks etc, sometimes we forget that book design is an art form in itself and that a book can be a treasured collector's item, as well as a wonderful read.

It's lush and lyrical and poetic and mystical and magical, the prose dense with imagery and sensuous detail. Highly imaginative, and I would have given it more stars if more had happened, but ultimately I felt it could have done with less (albeit luscious) description. It seemed a little self-indulgent, frankly, and not quite dangerous enough.

Heard nothing but good things about this book so I am looking forward to reading it. It's her first book so it will be interesting to see if she follows it up.

The Night Circus is a brilliant debut novel for Erin Morgenstern. I do not normally read a lot of fantasy-type novels but this book was recommended to me so I decided to give it a go. I am very glad that I did.

The atmosphere and imagery for this dream like novel is spectacular. The Night Circus reminds me of that TV show Carnivàle; full of unimaginable wonder, mystery and a circus of wonder. At times this book also reminds me of a Neil Gaiman book... more
The circus arrives without warning.

The Night Circus opens with a simple statement that lets you know right away that this isn't your typical circus story (if there is such a thing). A circus that shows up, and sets up, without anyone seeing it and... more
