Description

Set amid the austere beauty of the North Carolina coast, The Notebook begins with the story of Noah Calhoun, a rural Southerner recently returned form the Second World War. Noah is restoring a plantation home to its former glory, and he is haunted by images of the beautiful girl he met fourteen years earlier, a girl he loved like no other. Unable to find her, yet unwilling to forget the summer they spent together, Noah is content to live with only memories...until she unexpectedly returns to his town to see him once again. Like a puzzle within a puzzle, the story of Noah and Allie is just the beginning. As it unfolds, their tale miraculously becomes something different, with much higher stakes. The result is a deeply moving portrait of love itself, the tender moments and the fundamental changes that affect us all. It is a story of miracles and emotions that will stay with you forever.

Wow, once again Nicholas Sparks captures your heart in this story of young love. I saw the film before i read the book, but both had my feeling all kinds of emotions. From happiness, to sadness and back again. The story of Noah and Ali truely makes me believe that everyone out there has a true love. no matter how old you are.

Ridiculous story. They spent one summer together as 14 and 16 year olds respectively. Yet the story alluded to her recognising his smell, their detailed knowledge of one another's souls, as if a few months of shared adolescence equate to years of togetherness. Many other equally huge gaps in the storyline. I love a good romance, but found myself unable to finish this silly book.

being totally in love with movie. I had real high hope. However, I was slightly disappointed.

The Notebook is a love story about a man and woman who after fourteen years apart are reunited and fall in love all over again. Seems like a great premise for a love story. However, it just doesn't come across as believable. The characters lacked the passion that you would expected from this love story. Noah, comes over a bit simple, still pined after a girl spent a few weeks with when he was boy. Allie, just came across are very selfish, leaving her fiance just two weeks before her wedding to go visit Noah. I just didn't seem believable to me.

Nicholas Sparks has a world wide fan based. Honestly I don't understand why. He goes into far too much details about the smallest and more boring thing. Making me quiet a few times really fall asleep.

However, I pushed through the book and it wasn't till near enough the end that I began to like it and I was a bubbling mess. And I mean proper snot tears. I had to stop reading a few times because I couldn't even see from tears. So by the end I did like the story and now I am looking forward to reading more of Sparks work.

So much better than the movie (although, I give credit to the movie; it WAS good). A very sad story, but moving all the same. A love that lasts for eternity.

It's been a long while since i've actually read this book but it is a vary moving and passionate story about love and life and how important they are to us.

I honestly love the book way more than i did the actual movie adaptation of it.
