I have started reading The Stone Key, part of the Obernewtyn series by Isobelle Carmody. Im finding it such a great read but I am conscious of myself getting so involved in the actual story rather than being critical of how well written the book is or not? I truly enjoy adventure books where new characters enter and exit the story constantly. I feel it grows and deepens the main plot and characters. Has anyone found that with adventure books? Can anyone guide me to another book?

It is about a girl that has telepathic abilities to read minds and can connect with animals. They live in a post-apocalyptic world and are trying to find peace for those humans that others perceive as being mutants. It is very much a good versus evil in a fantasy world but the characters really grow on you and Carmody is not shy or precious to kill off much loved characters through the series. Have you read Obernewtyn? It is the first one in the series.
